This is Part 3 in the “Thankfulness Matters” series. Be sure to check out the previous posts.
The other response to gifts is pure thankfulness.
Thankfulness is when we receive something so amazing but still don't try to give it back. Imagine a little child receiving a new bicycle from his parents. He doesn't try to pay his parents back. No, he goes outside and rides his bike. He visits all his friends (riding to see them of course) and shows them his new bike. He invites them to try jumping a ramp with him. He's ecstatic, and he wants to show it off.
That's the right response to gifts, particularly the gift of salvation God's given us. We don't try to pay God back by following His commandments and serving Him. We try to show it off by serving Him. The end result of serving God might be the same in both situations, but the motivation behind it is vastly different. And that's crucial.
In the next post, I'll explain why the right motivation is crucial.
Don´t forget to comment and leave a message at bondchristian too. thanks
