Start Praying Today.

1.         Set aside a few minutes every day. Do not say anything. Simply practice thinking about God. This will make your mind spiritually receptive.
2. Then pray orally, using simple, natural words. Tell God anything that is on your mind. Do not think you must use stereotyped pious phrases. Talk to God in your own language. He understands it.
3. Pray as you go about the business of the day, on the subway or bus or at your desk. Utilize minute prayers by closing your eyes to shut out the world and concentrating briefly on God´s presence. The more you do this every day the nearer you will feel God´s presence.
4. Do not always ask when you pray, but instead affirm that God´s blessings are being given , and spend most of your prayers giving thanks.
5. Pray with the belief that sincere prayers can reach out and surround your loved one with God´s love and protection.
6. Never use a negative though in prayer. Only positive thoughts get results.
7. Always express willingness to accept God´s will. Ask for what you want , but be willing to take what God gives you. It may be better than what you ask for.
8. Practice the attitude of putting everything in God´s hands. Ask for the ability to do your best and to leave the results confidently to God.
9. Pray for people you do not like or who have mistreated you. Resentment is blockade number one of spiritual power.

Your Love For God

If we love God and give ourselves to Him, we must give ourselves to the whole world. Otherwise we would divide off our personal experience of God from His Greatness and Infinite Presence and turn what ought to be dedication into private enjoyment.

One of the holy miracles of love is that once it is really started on its path, it cannot stop; it spreads and spreads in ever-widening circles till it embraces the whole world in Hod. We begin by loving those nearest to us, end by loving those who seem farthest. And as our love expands, so our whole personality will grow, slowly but truly. Every fresh soul we touch in love is going to teach us something fresh about God. 

One of the mystics said: God cannot lodge in a narrow heart: our hearts are as great as our love . Let us take that into our meditation and measure our prayer and service against the unmeasured generosity of God .

The will is like a wise mother in a nursery. The emotions are like crying children. The mother makes up her mind to have her children do what she believes to be right and best. The children complain and say they won´t do it. However, the mother knows that she is the one in control and pursues her course lovingly and calmly in spite of all their complaints. The result is that the children are sooner or later won over to the mother´s course of action. They fall in with her decision and all is harmonious and happy. But if for a moment that mother should think that the children were the masters instead of herself, confusion would reign. At this very moment there are many who are confused, simply because their feelings are allowed to govern instead of their will.

The Goodness of God

            The goodness of God breaking forth into a desire to communicate good was the cause and the beginning of the Creation. Hence, it follows that to all eternity God can have no thought or intent towards the creature but to communicate good, because He made the creature for this sole end, to receive good. The first motive towards the creature is unchangeable; it takes its rise from God´s desire to communicate good, and it is an eternal impossibility that anything can ever come from God as his will and purpose towards the creature but the same love and goodness which first created it. He must always will to which He willed at the creation of it. This is the amiable nature of God. He is the good , the unchangeable, overflowing fountain of good that send forth nothing but good to all eternity. He is the Love itself, the unmixed ,immeasurable Love, doing nothing but from love, giving nothing but gifts of love to everything that He has made, requiring nothing of all His creatures but the spirit and fruits of that love which brought them into being. Of, how sweet is this contemplation of the height and depth of the riches of Divine Love! With what attraction must it draw every thoughtful man to return love for love to this overflowing fountain of boundless goodness !
